Applications

The Trust is not a funding body and so does not invite applications for financial support from charitable organisations. It does, however, consider the applications which charitable organisations send to it. These are collected together and reviewed by the trustees once a year, in advance of making their annual decisions about donations.

It should be noted that the Trust is not able to give to individuals, only to organisations with charitable status.

Format and content of Applications:

The Trust does not publish guidelines on the content of applications, so an applicant is free to include any information which is relevant.

Applications should be made in writing and sent by post to the Trust’s correspondent at the address below.

Applicants are asked not to e-mail or telephone the Trust. Given the large volume of applications the Trust receives, it is not practical or cost-efficient to deal with enquiries in this way. Like all charities, the Trust needs to do all it can to keep its administrative costs to a minimum, so as to maximise what can be given to the causes it supports.

Timeline for Applications:

The Trust makes its decisions about donations annually at the end of March/ beginning of April. Therefore, any applications should be timed to reach the Trust by no later than 15 December in the preceding year.

Acknowledgement of Applications:

Given the large volume of applications received by the Trust it is not possible to acknowledge receipt.

Notification of successful Applicants:

Applicants who submit their applications by 15 December in one year will hear from the Trust by 15 April of the following year if they have been successful.

To keep administrative costs to a minimum, it is not possible to notify applicants who have been unsuccessful. If, therefore, an applicant has not heard from the Trust by 15 April, in relation to an application submitted in the previous year, the application can be assumed to have been unsuccessful.
