The Tolkien Trust is a UK registered charity. It was established in 1977 by the four children of the author, J R R Tolkien, to enable the Tolkien family to give regularly to its chosen charitable causes.

The Trust is wholly discretionary, which means that the trustees decide whom to benefit on the basis of their own knowledge of charities operating in areas of interest to them.

The Trust has traditionally supported a wide spectrum of charitable causes and concerns throughout the world. You can read more about the Trust's work on the About us page of this website.

Please note that The Tolkien Trust is no longer accepting unsolicited applications.

Please do not send an application unless you have been specifically requested to do so by the Trust.

The Trust does not have the capacity to process the volume of unsolicited applications it has been receiving, and does not wish applicants to waste time writing applications that will not be appraised.

Thank you.
